8th Ave Terrace is one of the Southern Gold Coast’s newest restaurants. Situated within a stone’s throw of beautiful Palm Beach it boasts exquisite ocean views from both the open-air terrace and the upper-level dining room. The split level design gives you the choice between a more casual experience, seated at high-bars with the hustle of the bar and open kitchen close by, or a comfortable dining setting, with low set tables, intimate lighting and large windows that catch the ocean breeze.

Their vision is to create a restaurant for locals and tourists alike that is neither fine dining nor casual dining, but somewhere in the middle; a venue that embraces the familiarity of café-friendly service while catering for the more adventurous diner. This casual beach side luxury is so unique to the Gold Coast and is something that this team thrives on.

Head Chef Chris Harrington regularly changes their menu as the seasons and available produce demand it but this is also essential to 8th Ave’s ideals. In the spirit of what Chef Chris calls Modern Bistro, the kitchen team strive to create a menu that transcends many cuisines and gives diners a fresh experience upon each visit. Making almost everything in house, from fresh baked ciabatta to kimchi, gnocchi and seasonal pickled vegetables and pastes, their philosophy is great simple flavours, done justice without over complicating each dish. Beef Tataki with sushi rice dumplings, soy gel & furikake, or Moreton Bay Bugs char-grilled & tossed through XO butter, kimchi, garlic chives and served with pork bubble are examples of recent favourites.

8th Ave Terrace’s wine list has been collated to showcase unique and interesting wines from around the world but they have a soft spot for some particular domestic drops and source directly from winemakers such as Teusner, The Willows, David Franz and Jilly Wines from our own backyard in the Granite Belt. The ability to hand pick small batch wine, tawny and sherry is something that they find great joy in and the staff are only too happy to talk through their offering.

Similarly bar manager, Aaron Johnson takes pride in creating a cocktail list you wont forget. AJ is constantly in the kitchen with the Chefs, learning new techniques that he can apply to his drinks list. For example he makes verjus using loose grapes from the kitchen, to create an alternative to sugar syrup. This relationship between the bar and kitchen staff is one that is encouraged and ultimately delivers a dining experience like no other.
